Architecture By Children

ABC is a free design education program where children in grades K-12 are introduced to the world of architecture.

Since 1996, ABC has brought a fun, engaging, educational experience to as many as 2,000 children annually, throughout the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Through ABC, AIA Cincinnati aims to educate our greater community about the value of the role of the architect, and how what architects do affects all our lives through the design and development of our shared environment. ABC’s goal is not only to introduce children to the field of architecture but to also engage the energy and thoughtful creativity of each student through the design and presentation of a themed building project. The students boost their creativity, build self- esteem, develop communication skills, and engage with the built environment in new ways.

ABC seeks to foster an increasingly aware populace that is willing to support good, sustainable design into the future. The highlight of the student exhibition is a mini design competition judged by volunteers from the Cincinnati arts and architectural communities.
