AFC Elects Officers for 2010

David ArendsNew trustees and officers will lead the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati in 2010. Headquartered at 127 West Ninth Street, the nonprofit membership organization sponsors educational programs about architecture and design for students and adults.

David Arends was elected AFC president for 2010-2011. He succeeds Christine Schoonover, a senior vice president of sales for Sibcy Cline Realtors, who will continue to serve as advisor and program chair. Arends is CEO of CR architecture + design, an employee-owned architectural firm that specializes in education, government, housing, commercial, hospitality, and retail design. CR has offices in Cincinnati, Denver and Roanoke.Michael Kelly

Vice president Michael Kelley is a principal and director of Interior Design Services for KZF Design Inc. Mark McKillip, an architect and owner’s representative was re-elected secretary. Michael Huseman, president of HGC Construction was re-elected treasurer. Buck Niehoff, AFC’s 2005 Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award recipient, was elected trustee emeritus in recognition of his distinguished service to the organization.

Newly elected trustees are Noah Bergman, a graduate student in architecture at the University of Cincinnati; Mario San Marco, president of Eagle Realty; Mark Schlachter, community leader and design artist; and Jay Schuermann, president of Effective Office Environments. Michael Mauch, a principal in RWA Architects was appointed to represent AIA Cincinnati Chapter.
