The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati (AFC) and the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati (CGC) are collaborating for their second program in a series on sustainable design. On October 7, they cosponsor a lecture by Gary Jay Saulson, Director of Corporate Real Estate for Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial Services Group and a leader in the Pittsburgh green building community.

Mr. Saulson heads PNC Bank’s successful sustainable building program, which has constructed more green buildings than any other company in the world. Saulson will discuss why building green makes sense for corporate America. PNC has adopted a green building policy. In addition to large-scale projects such as its corporate headquarters, PNC has developed a new bank branch prototype that follows LEEDTM building standards. It is the first company to qualify under the USGBC volume-build program.

The program starts at 5 p.m., at the First Unitarian Church, 536 Linton at Reading Road with a reception to follow at the Civic Garden Center, nearby at 2715 Reading Road. AFC trustee Gary Meisner, FASLA, who is organizing the event, promises a fine speaker, good food and drink, and cool jazz.

Admission for the lecture and reception is $20 regular advance ticket, $25 at the door, and $75 patrons. Free parking is available in the lot between church and garden center. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. Information and reservations: Civic Garden Center (513) 221-0981 x 18.
