Turner Is Presenting Sponsor of AFC Apple Award Gala

March 2008

Turner Construction Co. is the Presenting Sponsor of the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati’s 2008 Apple Award Gala on May 7. On March 21, Turner CEO Ken Jones presented a company check to AFC trustees Mark McKillip, Christine Schoonover, and Mike Huseman.

AFC gives the Apple Award each year to an individual who has contributed to the improvement of the built environment of Greater Cincinnati. The highlight of the May 7, 2008, evening will be presentation of the prestigious Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award to Arn Bortz, a partner in Towne Properties and former Cincinnati mayor and councilperson.

The Apple Award Gala is the major benefit for the education programs of the foundation. Most recently, the foundation co-sponsored a charrette for infill construction in Over-the-Rhine and a program on Green architecture at the Cincinnati Zoo. AFC is the principal sponsor of Architecture By Children, which AIA Cincinnati volunteers make available to thousands of local schoolchildren at no charge. The foundation also makes grants and sponsors publications about architecture in Greater Cincinnati.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and all gifts above $75 per seat used are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
